Katie Olson hails from the Mighty Midwest, Wisconsin (yes, she's a fan of cows and cheese curds!). She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education degree, majoring in Physical Education, Health, Adapted PE, and Coaching from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2010. Following that, she embarked on a journey to Okinawa, Japan, accompanying her husband, an Active Duty Air Force member, for about four years. In 2014, Katie made her way to Southern California, where she's been an educator at Sycamore Academy Charter School since the 2015 school year. Her introduction to the CMSPEW Conference in 2017 sparked an enduring passion for the event. Katie has forged invaluable connections and refined her teaching strategies through her involvement with CMSPEW. When not in the classroom, you can find her camping and dirt bike riding in the desert or enjoying the great outdoors on a run.
Katie is thrilled to co-direct this year's workshop alongside Jayson. A noteworthy detail about your 2024 directors is their shared experience of living in Okinawa, Japan, at different points in their lives.
